- Light: Full sun to light shade. Mine are in 50% shade. Too hot here.
- Height in the Garden: Up to 60'.
- Attributes: Picea orientalis has the shortest needles of the genus Picea. It is a beautiful tree with dense foliage and branching. It is slow, but steady growing. There is an stunning example of Oriental Spruce at Green Lake Park in Seattle, Washington.
- Notes: An excellent choice for bonsai and has been easier to grow than Picea glenhii, or Ezo Spruce, here in the hot hot foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
