- Attributes: A low-growing, suckering, evergreen subshrub or groundcover that spreads via rhizomes to form a dense colony. Features glossy, dark green, leathery leaves with serrated edges arranged in whorls at the top of the stems. In early summer, it produces small, star-shaped, pale pink or white flowers in clusters beneath the foliage, which are followed by bright red, persistent berries in the fall and winter.
