Attributes: Broadleaf, deciduous, large shrub that is fantastic in the landscape and for bonsai culture. Foliage is oblong, dense and autumn deciduous. This floriferous shrub makes a large, aromatic fruits that are edible once cooked. The flowers are crimson, and my favorite shade of red flower. They are superior to the "red" flowers of Chojubai in my opinion.
