- Attributes: Fast growing, with beautiful foliage and interesting bark. Emits a heavenly, caramel like odor during leaf drop in autumn, which is my favorite characteristic of the tree. Can live one thousand years or more in the wild.
- Notes: I have become that C. japonicum is used for bonsai in the last couple of years or so. It was surprising to me given the large foliage, but it does seem to reduce a fair bit. It is appropriate for larger size bonsai. WIll be an excellent choice for forest plantings.
